Export

Ugandan produce for Europe, the Middle East and beyond.

Our markets

Into Europe through the Netherlands

Our products are to be distributed through the Netherlands, using Nile Fresh Produce International B.V., a recently established Dutch entity, with onward distribution across Europe and beyond. These markets have strong demand for African produce, especially among immigrant communities, who are large consumers of the fruits and vegetables grown in Uganda.

Small neighbourhood shops serving these communities buy their produce at their cities’ large markets. We plan to supply these markets and open points of sale across Europe’s large cities, reaching a broader range of customers. We are also exploring opportunities in the Middle East and Eastern Europe.

Export philosophy

Two pillars: speed and vigilance

They let us guarantee maximum freshness and quality for buyers in Europe and the Middle East.

One company, every step

We monitor production, procurement and distribution ourselves, a rarity in a sector where these steps normally belong to different companies.

Within 36 hours

Transport and distribution always begin within 36 hours of harvest.

Always refrigerated

Fruit and vegetables travel in refrigerated compartments, an extra guarantee of freshness.

Mechanisation

Fully mechanised on 5,000 acres

On the 5,000 acres of our nucleus farm in Nwoya District we run 12 tractors and 4 combine harvesters. Each combine can harvest 100 tons of maize and 100 tons of soya bean a day.

At full capacity we aim to yield an average of:

  • 10,000 tons of maize
  • 2,000 tons of soya bean
  • 4,500 tons of rice

Simsim and sunflower will continue to be farmed on short-term leased land for the next few seasons.
